Navigation has been designed to be intuitive. The screen is divided into four sections:
The top of the screen displays the system name and shows the Alarm Status with a time stamp. It also has Print, Export, Data Refresh, Help, and Logout buttons. There are also controls for navigating (or reaching through) to other systems that are members of the same Multi-node Management group.
Left side of the screen displays the Navigation Tree. The tree is used to navigate the programming forms and or functions such as maintenance commands, alarms, and logs. The contents of the tree can be displayed in alphabetical order or by category (Licenses, Trunks, Users and Devices, etc.). The content itself varies depending on the following:
Licenses purchased and options enabled. Some forms or views are associated with licensable features—for example, ACD, and networked voice mail—and will appear in the tree if the license is purchased. Other features, such as System Data Synchronization, must be enabled for their forms to appear.
Only the forms and views applicable to the connected MiVoice Business system are part of the tree. For example, the WAN Settings and Firewall forms applies to the CXi II and MXe III only.
The System Administrator Policy that is assigned to the logged in user. The policy controls which forms or views the user can access.
The right side of the screen is split into two parts:
the top part is a summary of data currently programmed in the form
the bottom part displays details of the record that is highlighted in the top region
NOTE: For best viewing, set your monitor resolution to 1280 x 1024 pixels and 96 DPI.
To navigate the forms in System Administration Tool:
Select the navigation
tree type (alphabetic or category) by clicking

Scroll to the required form or function (or category followed by the form/function).
Click to display the form/function.
TIP: If you know the name of the form, type the first few letters. As you type, the cursor will scroll to the first link that contains those characters. This works in alphabetical view only.
NOTE: If the list does not present the alphabetical option, you need to install the required XML components on your computer. See About the XML Components for installation instructions .

The form links stop working when the System Administration Tool session times out or is otherwise ended. To begin using the links again after the tool is restarted, open a new Help window.

platforms. If a form is unavailable, nothing happens when its
The
The
field at the top of interface allows you to search for a directory
number across the databases within an Administrative Group of elements.
Enter a directory number in the field and DN

is displayed to the right of the field. If the directory number is
found, click Go or press the
Enter keyboard key to go to
the DN number in the form. Note that this "go to" function
only applies to forms that display lists of directory numbers.
Some forms, such as User and Services Configuration, allow you to search for an entry in the system database. Select the field name, for example Name or Number, enter the value and then click Search.
If Multi-Node Management applications are supported, you can choose to search for an entry
in the database of the currently accessed element, or
in the databases of all the elements in the Administrative Group.
Select the element name to search the database of the currently accessed element. Click Admin Group to search the databases of all the elements in the System Data Synchronization Administrative Group. Search results at the Admin Group scope only display data for the Number, Name, and Host fields.
Searches in the User and Services Configuration form are case-sensitive for names entered using UTF-8 encoded characters. If your search for a UTF-8 name fails to find anything, it may be because the characters you entered are in the wrong letter case.
Forms that contain many entries, provide first page, previous page, next page, and last page buttons. Some forms, such as the Logs - All Maintenance/Software form, also provide Go To functionality.
To view the
first page, click ![]()
previous page, click ![]()
next page, click ![]()
last page, click ![]()
To go to a particular record:
NOTE: In the Remote Directory Numbers form, a Name search requires that the name be entered exactly as it appears in the form.
Select a search criterion from the Go to drop-down list (the criteria change to suite each form; some examples are Name, Page #, Card Type, MAC Address, Number).
Enter a single text string in the value text box. The Go to function will only perform a case-insensitive search on the first text string entered in the box. For example, if you select the criterion "Name", type a " T" in the value text box, then click Go. The form will be positioned at the first record that starts with the letter " T".
Click Go.
If no match is found an error box will inform you. Click OK to modify your search.
